About Me

Hi, my name is Paul Dubal, Founder of Perfect Balance Consulting. I have over 25 years of corporate secretarial, corporate governance and regulatory experience both in house and as a professional services consultant in the United Kingdom, Canada and the Caribbean. I have worked in leadership and senior roles for several Big 4 firms, and a number of listed financial services companies, providing governance services to Mid-Cap and Large-Cap companies in Europe, North and South America and the Caribbean region. I have worked extensively with a diverse range of boards and senior management teams on governance matters, and recently completed a two-year assignment as Head of Corporate Governance at the First Abu Dhabi Bank, the largest bank in the Gulf region. 

I founded Perfect Balance Consulting to combine my extensive corporate governance experience with my coaching and emotional intelligence accreditation to provide coaching, consulting and training for the next generation of leaders. I have had some great mentors in my career and it is time to give back. I provide executive coaching to individuals with a focus on emotional intelligence, and presentations to corporate bodies in governance and related fields. 

What drives me in my business is the desire to influence and provide continuing education for people to develop new ways of thinking; not just become leaders; but leaders with empathy and compassion, who will always seek to do the right thing even when no one is watching. My key passion is building emotional intelligence, a critical skill in the modern workplace, and how it can support a person’s personal and professional brand. I have worked with a diverse range of boards and senior executives in North America, Europe, Caribbean and Middle East. My experience is that thought leadership, integrity, strong governance and reputation are universal.

In my many years in the corporate world, and having lived in a number of different countries, a huge concern for me is that so many people lack emotional intelligence. It is a blind spot preventing them from leading lives that enable them to reach their potential or to enjoy happy, fulfilled lives. I have developed a presentation that is designed to increase awareness around emotional intelligence to young adults at high school and in college. It is such a valuable life skill yet it fails to make it on the school curriculum. Watch this section for more information on my volunteer presentations.
